2 children rescued from kidnappers in Jammu, 2 held

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday said that it has rescued two children from the captivity of their abductors in Jammu and arrested two peoples in this connection.

Police said that Anirudh Sharma, a class 5th student of Army School Kaluchack was kidnapped by some unidentified people from outside his home at Dassal village of Bari Brahamana after he was dropped there in the school van on May 5.

After a written complaint was lodged by the father of the minor boy, several police teams were constituted to trace out the boy, police said.

“Today, the child was recovered and later reunited with his family members,” IG Jammu MK Sinha told Greater Kashmir.

The police officer said that one person, who was part of the gang that kidnapped the boy, has been arrested and further investigation taken up.

He also negated the reports doing rounds on social media that the child was released by the kidnappers only after they were paid the ransom amount by the family members of the boy.

As per reports, the kidnappers were demanding Rs 1 crore for the release of the child.

Meanwhile, in another breakthrough, a minor girl was rescued from her kidnappers by Jammu and Kashmir Police within 24 hours of receiving the complaint in Udhampur police station.

Police said that a written complaint was lodged at Udhampur police station by the family members of the girl on Monday claiming one person of Maidana, Poonch, had kidnapped her.

Followed by this, police said that various teams were constituted to trace out the girl and within 24 hours of receiving the complaint, the girl was rescued from the kidnapper from Bathindi area of Jammu.

“The accused has been arrested and the minor girl handed over to her legal heirs after completing the legal formalities,” police added.
