2 landlords arrested for hiding identity of tenants in Sunjwan

A day after the arrest of a militant commander from Jammu, Police today claimed to have arrested two house owners (landlords) for hiding identity of tenants in Sunjwan area of Jammu District falling police station Bahu Fort.

One of the unverified tenants was Lashkar-e-Mustafa, Chief, Hadayatullah Malik, son of Abdul Hamid Malik, resident of Haradpura, Shopian, according to the police.

   

Malik was arrested yesterday by the police team following inputs from Kunjwan area of Gangyal and he has been booked under FIR Number 16 of 2021 under section 18/20 Unlawful Activities at Gangyal Police Station, police said.

Police said that a team led by SHO Bahu Fort Police Station Bahu Fort Inspector Deepak Pathania conducted verification of a tenant namely Hadayatullah Malik, son of Abdul Hamid Malik, resident of Haradpura, Shopian who was booked under Unlawful Act and Nazir Ahmed, son of Mohammed Ramzan, resident of Shopian who were staying in houses of Nazir Ahmed, son of Lassa Bhat, resident of Sanjwan and Farooq Ahmed, son of Saraj Din, resident of Momin Abad Sanjwan, respectively.

“Both the owners had neither informed police nor conducted any verification from the Police Station. Therefore, owners have violated the notification of District Magistrate Jammu in which it was mandatory to inform concerned Police Station about the tenant,” according to the police.

Meanwhile, two cases FIR Number 41 of 2021 under section 188 of IPC and FIR No 42 of 2021 under section 188 of IPC have also been registered against both the house owners at Police Station Bahu Fort.

They have been identified as Nazir Ahmed, son of Lassa Bhat, resident of Sanjwan, Jammu District, and Farooq Ahmed, son of Saraj Din, resident of Mominabad in Sanjwan.

Meanwhile, a special investigation police team conducted a late night raid and detained a woman who was the resident of Ganowpur, Shopian District from Ustad Mohallah in Jammu’s Old City area.

“She had allegedly escaped from the spot when the militant commander was apprehended from Kunjwani, yesterday,” said a police officer. Further investigation is in progress.
