It was a day of protests in Jammu yet again on Wednesday though for varied reasons!
Congress and Peoples Democratic Party held protest demonstrations against prospective property tax and hike in fuel prices. Meanwhile, the members of transgender community protested outside the Civil Secretariat seeking justice from the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
Congress leaders held a protest Dharna at Vivekanand Chowk against prospective property tax in J&K and hike in fuel prices. They demanded immediate rollback of property tax and dismantling of toll plazas to end, what they said, “tax terrorism.”
The protest was organized by Corporators Ritu Choudhary and Mohiodin of Wards 6 and 7 respectively. Former Minister Raman Bhalla, Mula Ram, Yogesh Sawhney, General Secretary PCC Manmohan Singh, Hari Singh Chib, and Ex-Minister Garu Choudhary and senior Congress leaders also participated in the protest at Vivekananda Chowk.
PDP workers too joined the cause with Congress and held a separate protest demonstration at KachiChawni against fuel price hike and proposal to levy property tax.
The members of transgender community, however, protested against alleged harassment by another group of transgender and police inaction in this case.
