Air Commodore Pathania assumes charge of Jammu airbase

Air Commodore Ajay Singh Pathania took over the command of strategically important Jammu airbase here today.

He took over the charge from Air Commodore S K Mishra.

   

On this occasion, an impressive ceremonial parade by the airwarriors was held at air force station Jammu.

Air Commodore Pathania was commissioned in the flying branchof the Indian Air Force in December, 1986. An alumnus of NDA and a graduatefrom the Defence Services Staff College, he is also a qualified flyinginstructor. He has been the flight commander of three types of helicopters andhas commanded two types of helicopter units which include Chetak-Cheetah inEastern Sector of India and MI-25 in UN Mission DRC Congo.

He has been Chief Operational Officer of a premier Air ForceBase and also has commanded a Tactical Air Command (TAC) in Eastern Sector.

The Air Officer has also served as Personal and Operationalstaff at Air Headquarters. He was directly involved in major HumanitarianAssistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) Helicopter Operations between 2012 to2015 which included floods in Jammu and Kashmir. He was instrumental duringRescue and Relief ops after Nepal earthquake as well as Yemen Evacuation inApril 2015.

Prior to taking over command of the Jammu air station,Pathania was holding important appointment as Air Officer Commanding andPresident of Air Force Selection Board at Kolkata (Kanchrapara) and Dehradun.
