Amarnath Yatra | Union Home Secretary reviews security, other arrangements

Union Home Secretary, Ajay Kumar Bhalla Wednesday convened a high-level meeting to review security and other arrangements for smooth conduct of Amarnath.

The meeting was attended by Advisors to Lt Governor, BaseerAhmad Khan, RR Bhatnagar, Director General of Police, Financial CommissionerHealth and Medical Education, Principal Secretary Home Department, ChiefExecutive Officer the Shrine Board, Divisional Commissioners Jammu and Kashmir,ADGP, CID, J&K; IGP Jammu; IGP Kashmir and other senior officers of CRPFand Army.

   

The meeting was convened through video conferencing.

Threadbare discussion on security arrangements, telecomconnectivity, disaster management, heath care plan, fire safety measures,electricity, water supply, accurate weather forecasting services, and otherissues were held during the meeting.

The Union Secretary stressed on effective coordination amongall departments for ensuring foolproof and smooth conduct of Yatra.

The Home Secretary discussed various matters with police andcivil administration and also sought suggestions from them to ensure timely andfool-proof arrangements for the smooth conduct of annual pilgrimage. He assuredof full support from the Union Home Ministry.

Advisor Khan gave a detailed presentation of thearrangements being made for the Yatra.

He said routes leading to Yatra would be cleared of snow andthe matter has already been taken with the department.

The Advisor said night helicopter service for Yatris wouldbe taken up with the concerned departments.

The Advisor also discussed need for effective trafficregulation to ensure smooth movement of the pilgrim to the base camps.

Advisor Bhatnagar said the LG’s administration was makingall necessary arrangements for smooth conduct of the Yatra.
