Another accused held in counterfeit currency racket

Jammu, Oct 13: Police today claimed to have arrested another person in the alleged fake currency racket.
Police identified the accused as Tanveer Ahmed Ganie son of Ghulam Hussain Ganie of Durgond, in south Kashmir’s Islamabad district. He had unsuccessfully contested assembly elections of 2008 as an independent candidate from Islamabad constituency and later joined Trinamol Congress.
SSP Jammu Atul Goel informed that the Trikuta Nagar police and SOG, following inputs about the fake currency supply in the state, laid a naka at railway station and arrested the accused with a consignment of the fake currency.
“The arrested person identified himself as Rouf Ahmed Lachoo of Durgond Islamabad. Police had inputs that the suspect would be arriving in Jammu by Howrah Special train along with the consignment of fake currency. A special team under the supervision SP South  started its operation to nab the suspected persons,” the SSP said.  Fake currency of Rs 7 lakh value was recovered from his possession, the SSP said adding on his instance, Tanveer was arrested.
