Army Commander visits eastern Ladakh bordering China

 Indian Army’s General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command on Monday visited eastern Ladakh sector and reviewed security along the Line of Actual Control, the ‘un-marked’ boundary between India and China in the region.

The GoC-in-C, Lieutenant General Ranbir Singh, according to official sources, was accompanied by Lieutenant General Yogesh Kumar Joshi, General Officer Commanding of the Leh-based Fire and Fury Corps (14 corps) visited forward locations of the Earthen Sector, where the top military generals reviewed the ground security situation.

   

The army commander also visited Pangong Tso Lake, where army carries out regular boat patrols in the water body for surveillance and area domination. Lt Gen Singh was briefed about the troop’s readiness for operational and security situation by field commanders in the high altitude cold desert region.

The army commanders were also briefed about stores and stock positioning for winters, especially for inhospitable locations like Border Meeting Points of Daulat Beg Oldie (DBO) where connecting roads remain closed in winter months due to heavy snowfall and freezing temperatures. The Army Commander also interacted with the soldiers and complimented them for their dedication to duty and high standard of professionalism.

Earlier this week, the army commander, who lauded all ranks for their dedication and high morale said India and China have well-established mechanism to take control of any situation arising along long LAC.

“Along the LAC we have been able to maintain peace and tranquility. There has been relative decline in the number of transgressions during the current year,” the army commander told reporters on Oct 17 in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh.
