Be prepared for reshuffle, Khanna tells BJP ministers

Expressing unhappiness over the working and the performance of some BJP ministers in the state coalition government, party’s national vice-president and incharge J&K affairs, Avinash Rai Khanna today said that reshuffle within the party “could take place anytime” and they should “improve their performance”, highly placed sources in the party informed.

“During a meeting of the BJP’s core group which was held today evening at party headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Khanna was very upset and unhappy over working of some of the party ministers and told them in clear terms that party high command is also not satisfied with their performance, which is being reviewed regularly,” a senior leader of the party and one of the members of core group who attended the meeting, informed Greater Kashmir.

He informed, “Khanna conveyed to them that they should be prepared for vacating their seats as reshuffle within the party could take place anytime”.

The core group meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh, union minister, Dr Jitendera Singh, health minister, Bali Bhagat, Members of Parliament (MP), Jugal Kishore Sharma and Shamsher Singh Manhas, former state president and MLC, Ashok Khajuria, general secretaries, Ashok Koul and Dr Narinder Singh and BJP state president, Sat Sharma.

Meanwhile, reliable sources informed that the closed door meeting witnessed noisy scenes as some of the core group members lodged strong protest over working style of the party ministers.

They said their own ministers have become “arrogant and inaccessible not only to the party leaders but also to the people and workers as well.”

“The party will have to pay heavy price, the members said,” sources said while quoting some of the members having told Khanna in the meeting.

“Khanna directed the ministers to not only improve their performance and working but also remain in regular touch with the party workers at the grassroots and take party leaders into confidence,” the member who attended the meeting said.

Khanna directed the ministers and the party senior leaders to work for strengthening the organization for which he said party cadre must be taken along.

Khanna also discussed with state BJP leaders, the party’s future programmes for strengthening the organization and increasing base in all three regions of the state.

The state unit leaders were also told to give more focus on areas where the party is weak so that better results could be achieved in the next elections.
