BJP eyes 10 assembly seats of Kashmir

Claiming support of 1230 elected sarpanchs and panchs and 106 ward members, the BJP is looking forward to win at least 10 assembly seats in Kashmir province, party insiders told Greater Kashmir.

Addressing a meeting of party district and mandal presidents here today, engineer Avinash Rai Khanna, former MP and incharge J&K affairs, according to party insiders, claimed that BJP has support of 1336 elected representatives of Kashmir including 1230 sarpanchs and panchs and 106 councillors.

“With this support, Khanna said the BJP is looking forward to win at least 10 assembly seats in Kashmir so that the party forms a government on its own in the state,” they said.

They said that Khanna also told the district and mandal presidents that “victory of BJP candidates in Baramulla and Shopian assembly constituencies is almost clear as the party has maximum number of sarpanchs and panchs over there.”

“Khanna also told the mandal and district presidents to start mobilising the support for the BJP national president, Amit Shah’s rally on February 24,” the party insiders said.

Quoting Khanna, they said the party has tentatively fixed February 24 as the date for the visit of party’s national president to J&K. “The date of visit, however, can change,” they said.
