The government on Wednesday faced an embarrassing situation in the Legislative Assembly when one of the ruling BJP lawmakers stormed into Well of the House against land acquisition for ring road project in Jammu.

The treasury benches were stunned when BJP MLA Sukhnandan Kumar stormed into the well to protest against what he called “illegal way” of acquiring land for the ring road project in Jammu.

“The government is acquiring land without serving notices to farmers whose land is being acquired for the project. This is illegal,” the BJP lawmaker said, and later staged a walkout from the House when nobody from the government replied to his questions.

In another similar instance BJP MLA Dina Nath Baghat took on the government its “failure” to complete a road project in his constituency.

He also levelled allegations against engineers of the department executing the PMGSY projects.

With ruling MLAs creating an embarrassing situation for the ruling alliance, the opposition National Conference took potshots on the government.

“Even MLAs belonging to the ruling party are not happy with its functioning,” NC’s Devender Singh Rana remarked.
