BJP promises route to KailashMansarovar via Ladakh

JBharatiyaJanata Party Wednesday released its election manifesto for Ladakh parliamentary seat, promising union territory status for the high altitude region and inclusion of Bhoti language in the 8th schedule of the Constitution of India.

The promises in the manifesto also include opening a road toKailashMansarovar pilgrimage via Ladakh. 

   

Ashok Kaul, the saffronparty’s state unit generals secretary and another top BJP official said theywere committed to the promises which also include declaring Ladakh a tribalarea under 6th schedule of the Constitution.

It also listed somedevelopmental issued taken up by the government included early completion ofZojila Tunnel, Taglang-la, Lachung-la and Shinkup-la, early completion ofKargil-Padum and Nimoo-Darcha Road and a new airport terminal of Leh and CivilAirport at Kargil. BJP manifesto also promises medical and engineering collegesfor Ladakh besides early railway connectivity to Ladakh which is sanctioned asNational Project of Northern Railway and creation of New District for Zanskar,Drass, Nubra, Changthang and Sham.

Kaul the BJP also promises hydropower generatinginfrastructure in the cold desert region including transmission lines. Themanifesto also promises a hotel management institute and two new developmentauthorities for Nubra and Sham and Changthang.
