The average result of 10th and 12th classes remained a dismal 23.5% in two Government Higher Secondary Schools located at district headquarters Rajouri. An amount of Rs 5 crore 47 lakh was paid to 99 teachers in the academic session 2017-18 in the two schools.

In Boys Higher Secondary School, 107 students appeared for 12th board examination out of which only 25 passed, while for 10th, only 18 out of 59 students passed.

Similarly, in Government Model Girls Higher Secondary School, 132 students appeared in board examination of 12th class but only 26 passed. In 10th, only 18 out of 87 appearing students passed.

Contrary to the poor results, the salary of the employees of these two schools represent that the government is spending a huge amount for these two schools where, despite tall claims by department, result is far below normal.

Per month salary drawn for the staff of Government Boys Higher Secondary School Rajouri during the 2017-18 session was around Rs 23 lakhs while monthly salary of the staff of Girls School amounted to Rs 22.5 lakhs.

“Salary is a secondary aspect of any institution, but the dismal performance of both these schools is a cause of concern,” said a senior officer of the education department. "These schools are having adequate staff, but still result is far below normal.”
