Border Security Force (BSF) on Saturday detected a tunnel on International Border (IB) between India and Pakistan in Samba district, an official said.
“We received intelligence input about the existence of a tunnel across the border following which searches were conducted by the BSF troops in Bain-Galad area along the zero-line,” said IG BSF Frontier Jammu, NS Jamwal.
Jamwal said during the searches, a tunnel, approximately 25 feet deep and three to four feet in diameter was detected on this side of the border near fencing in Galar area.
“The tunnel was closed on Indian side with Pakistan made sand bags with markings of Shakargarh and Karachi factories. The place of opening of the tunnel is around 170 meters from the International Border towards Indian side in a farm,” said the IG.
He said with the detection of the tunnel they have foiled the design to infiltrate militants, arms, ammunition and drugs across the border.
