Chief Secretary asks people not to panic

As the number of positive Covid19 cases in J&K rose to 33 today, Chief Secretary B V R Subrahmanyam appealed people to stay calm and not panic.

In a message, Subrahmanyam said the J&K Government hasundertaken an aggressive testing campaign to detect COVID-19 positive cases asa result of which there is an increase in the number. He said the latest fivepositive cases today – 2 in Srinagar and 3 in Jammu – are all contacts of priorpositives and are asymptomatic which would have never been known for up to 2weeks and would have infected 100s subsequently.

   

The Chief Secretary said the testing rate in J&K ishigher than in states like Kerala. He said medical capacities, responsemechanism and other parameters are being quietly ramped up.Hopingthat J&K would overcome the crisis, the Chief Secretary complimented thefrontline health workers, field administration and volunteers who areresolutely fighting on the ground to defeat the pandemic.
