Residents of Mandi tehsil in Poonch district on Saturdayexpressed resentment over the municipal staff’s alleged failure in cleaning thechoked drainage system in the town.
In a meeting to discuss the arrangements for the approachingEid festival, the Civil Society members including Shamim Ganai, said that two weeks ago, a meeting was heldto finalise the arrangements for Baba Budha Amarnath Yatra where authoritiespromised to clean the choked drains at the earliest “but till date the filthydrains have not been cleansed.”
When the Civil Society members brought the matter to thenotice of Tehsildar Mandi, Javed Iqbal Chowdhary, he assured the delegation:”All your issues will be addressed on priority.”
“Authorities have put in place best possible arrangments forthe ensuing Budha Amarnath Yatra and we will ensure that they will get similartreatment during Eid festival as well,” the Tehsildar Mandi told the visitingCivil Society members.
