Class 12 student jumps into Chenab River

Police identified the 19-year-old student as Neeraj Dogra alias Bony son of Sham Lal of Nandowal, Channi Mohalla Pahariwala, Khour presently studying at Ranbir Higher Secondary School, Jammu.

A student  12th class today allegedly  jumped into Chenab River from New Bridge Akhnoor area falling under the jurisdiction of Akhnoor Police Station, police said.

Police identified the 19-year-old student as Neeraj Dogra alias Bony son of Sham Lal of Nandowal, Channi Mohalla Pahariwala, Khour presently studying at Ranbir Higher Secondary School, Jammu.

According to SHO Akhnoor, Pushvinder Singh, at about 3:15 pm, the boy jumped into the Chenab River from New Bridge Akhnoor area.

He said that local divers have been engaged while the army authorities have been requested to arrange divers to fish out the body of the boy.

According to Singh, the boy had left a suicide note having taken the extreme  step on the call of  Babaji (seer).

“We have also recovered a carry bag and footwear from the spot”, SHO said.

He said that case under relevant section has been registered at Akhnoor Police Station.
