Coronavirus: No public meetings, darbars in Jammu and Kashmir till March 31

The Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday said no publicmeetings or darbars will be held until March 31 in view of coronavirus scare.

“All darbars and publicmeetings to be put in abeyance till 31 March,” said the governmentspokesperson, Rohit Kansal, on Twitter.

   

In wake of the coronavirus threat, the government hasalready ordered suspension of teaching and class work in all schools, collegesand universities, and closure of Anganwari centres in J&K till 31 March2020. However, the board and other competitive examinations shall be conductedas per schedule.

In a press conference on Wednesday, Director NationalHealth Mission (NHM), Bhupinder Kumar said 1,211 travellers and persons incontact with suspected cases have been put under active surveillance; 150 ofthem have completed surveillance period of 28 days while as 12 are undergoinghospital quarantine.

Kumar said that 64 samples of suspected cases have beensent for testing so far; 28 have reported negative, 1 has tested positive and areport of 35 is awaited.
