Covid-19: Work suspended on world’s highest railway bridge

Authorities have suspended work on the world’s highest railway bridge in Reasi district.

An official said the workwas stopped in view of emerging situation due to Coronovirus and restriction onassembly of people.

   

“The work will remainsuspended from today till further order,” said the official.

Meanwhile, police haveregistered 12 cases against in Jammu against those who defied restrictions, andseized 56 vehicles.

Many roads and streets inJammu were blocked by police and paramilitary forces with barbed wire toprevent people’s movement.

At some places like DograChowk here police faced had tough time to convince people to return to theirhomes.

In Udhampur, the DeputyCommissioner, Piyush Singla sought help from volunteers to help administrationin quarantine centers.

“Those in age group of18-30 years who wish to volunteer in effort by administration can submit theirdetails,” reads an appeal issued by the DC.

Police personnel were alsoseen marking circles outside shops of essential commodities to advise people tomaintain social distance while buying essentials or withdrawing cash from ATMs.
