COVID19 | DGP reviews measures in Jammu districts

Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh on Wednesday took stock of measures put in place by the force to contain spread of coronavirus infection in several districts here.

The DGP visited Kathua, and Udhampur districts and Lakhanpurand took stoke of the measures. He was accompanied by IGP Jammu, Mukesh Singh.

   

During the visit, the DGP reviewed the preparedness andfacilities being provided to the police personnel in quarantine at PTS Kathuaquarantine centre and arrangements made at Police Academy Udhampur.

He also took stock of the movement and entry of essentialgoods in J&K at Lakhanpur.

The DGP appreciated the role of every police personnel forworking round-the-clock to assist the civil administration and healthdepartment in combating the coronavirus and ensuring lockdown.

He said police was leading from the forefront along withother department in the fight against the deadly virus and added it wasimportant to follow the government orders and the health protocols.

In Kathua, the DGP reviewed emergency response deliverysystem which has been established by the police and volunteers as ‘UnitedKathua’ to help the needy people.

He lauded the role of volunteers who are assisting policedepartment in distributing essential commodities to the needy people.

He said every day around 4000 people were being providedready-to-eat food besides raw ration and medicines at the doorsteps of theneedy people.

The DGP along with IGP Jammu visited Lakhanpur to inspectthe inter-state entry point and complimented the DC Kathua, SSP Kathua andother officers for ensuring smooth entry and movement of essential goods inJ&K.

He asserted that no passenger traffic be allowed except incase of extreme emergency and authorized one. He directed that no migrantlabour movement be allowed.

The officers briefed him about the security and healthprotocols being observed there.

The DGP also visited Police Training School (PTS) Kathua totake stock of the quarantine centre. He enquired about health and well being of323 persons being quarantined. These police personnel have been kept in PTSKathua quarantine centre on their arrival from other states after completingtheir training.

Principal PTS, KathuaArun Gupta gave detailed briefing aboutthe measures and precaution being taken while handling quarantined personnel.Commandant IRP 19th Battalion Kathua was also present.

Later, in the afternoon, the DGP visited Udhampur where hereviewed the arrangements being made at quarantine centre.

He was briefed by the Director SKPAU, S D Singh Jamwal aboutthe preparedness and measures taken for the smooth functioning of thequarantine centre. DIG Udhampur-Reasi range, Sujit Kumar and SSP Udhampur PR OmPrakash were also present.

The officers gave detailed briefing to the DGP about thepreparedness and measures taken.
