Cyber Cell saves Kathua man Rs 1 lakh

Police on Monday said it retrieved around Rs one lakh from a fraudster who had duped a man from Kathua district.

A statement said based on a complaint filed by Virinder Kumar of Basohli, the Cyber Police Cell became active and they managed to recover Rs 99, 402 which was debited from the account of the complainant.

“The victim had shared OTP number with some unidentified caller following which Rs 99, 402 was withdrawn from his account,” said a police officer, citing complaint of the victim. During the investigation, the police initiated investigation into the complaint and learnt about the amount transferred to Augmont Gold Pvt Ltd in Mumbai.

“We brought the matter into the notice of the company and it was refunded to the victim’s account,” said the officer.
