DAY 2: JKGB continue strike

As part of nationwide protest against government proposed plan to privatize rural banks and to demand parity of wages and pension at par  with nationalized banks,all branches of Jammu and Kashmir Grameen Banks(JKGB) remained closed on Tuesday.

The protest call was given by united forum of regional rural union, all India regional rural bank employee association.

   

In Jammu, Grameen Bank Officers Association (JKGBOA) and J&K Grameen Bank Employees Association (JKGBEA) observed strike on second and shut down the braches.

Associations of bank staged demonstration in front of its head officer, Narwal wherein serving and retired officials were present.

The employees were addressed by Amit Laria, president JKGBOA, Rashpal Choudhary General Secretary JKGBOA, Avinash Singh, president JKGBEA and Vikas Choudghary, general secretary JKGBEA.

They demanded parity of service regulation at par with their sponsor banks covering salary, allowances and other benefits including superannuation benefits.

“These are long pending demands. We had repeatedly raised our concerns with finance ministry officials but there was no positive response from the government,” the president                     said.

“We also want the government o ensure minimum wage and other allied benefits for casual workers in line with sponsor banks,” he said. Implementation of compassionate appointment scheme with retrospective effect is their other demand.
