Daylong workshop on ‘child rights & protection issues’ held at Kishtwar

As per the directions of J&K State Legal Services Authority, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Kishtwar Tuesday organized a daylong workshop on “child rights and child protection issues” as per J&K Juvenile Justice Act 2013. 

As per the release, the workshop was organized under theguidance of SC Katal, chairman District Legal Services Authority Kishtwar.

   

However, the inaugural session was presided over by SudhirKhajuria, chief judicial magistrate/principal magistrate, Juvenile JusticeBoard Kishtwar whereas Shakti Pathak, SSP Kishtwar was guest of honour.

Touseef Magray, secretary, DLSA Kishtwar, while speaking onthe occasion told the gathering that the major purpose of organizing thisworkshop was to sensitize all the stake holders, including police officers,prosecutor, lawyers, Juvenile Justice Board members and judges with theprovisions of the Act so as to ensure the effective implementation of J&KJuvenile Justice Act 2013.

Sudhir Khajuria, principal magistrate Juvenile Justice BoardKishtwar discussed with the participants the main provisions of the Act andalso told the police officials that while dealing with the cases pertaining tojuvenile in conflict with law, they should ensure that their humane side is atwork.

The participants were also sensitized about the child rightsand various judgments pertaining to the child protection issues.

The workshop was attended by Nissar Ahmed, ASP Kishtwar;Mansoor Ahmed, CPO Courts Kishtwar; Basharat Nazir, LCPO and members ofJuvenile Justice Board Kishtwar.
