Decontamination tunnels installed across Jammu city

Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has installed 12 decontamination and sanitizing tunnels at various locations across the city.

The information was revealed by Commissioner JMC, AvnyLavasa while briefing about the latest efforts being undertaken in the city tocontrol the further spread of coronavirus.

   

She said the disinfectant tunnels were being installed onpriority at high-risk areas like hospitals, isolation and quarantine centresand other locations with high footfall so as to provide protection to thedoctors, paramedical staff and health care workers/employees engaged inemergency services to deal with the pandemic.

The tunnels have been installed at Government MedicalCollege Bakshi Nagar, Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar, Government HospitalSarwal, Government Chest Diseases Hospital, Government Psychiatric DiseasesHospital, Yatri Bhawan and JMC Town Hall Complex.

However, the Commissioner stressed on the fact thatdisinfectant tunnels were not a substitute for essential preventive measureslike hand washing and social distancing which much be followed strictly.

In the coming days, the JMC will also install disinfectanttunnels at many other locations where footfall was high including red zoneareas like Bathindi Naka opposite Wave Mall, Gorkha Nagar, Narwal Mandi, andwarehouse.

Commissioner JMC also appealed people to avoid gatherings inpublic places and make use of alcohol-based sanitizers and masks as preventivemeasures to contain the spread of COVID19.
