Denied’ ambulance, border victim dies in pain

The people of R S Pura and Arnia on Friday demonstrated over failure of Jammu and Kashmir government to provide ambulance to a firing victim who later succumbed to injuries.

Scores of people from the two border areas assembled at R S Pura chowk, alleging that district administration failed to provide timely ambulance service to ceasefire victims of Chandu Chak village, where husband-wife couple was killed, reportedly wreathing in pain for more than two hours in compound of their house.

   

The villagers, reports said, pleaded for at least two hours with administration and police, for an ambulance, but the administration denied the transport following which the couple died. The locals then arranged trolley from neighbouring village and rushed them to Health Center R S Pura, where doctors declared them brought dead.

Later, people blocked the road and accused both center and state government of negligence. “A local army commander had already informed local administration about possible border skirmishes, but due to utter callousness, the warning was not taken serious,” a protester said.

“Had the warning been taken serious, lives of civilian may have been saved,” he added.
