DG Prisons visits Udhampur, Kathua jails

Director General Police (Prisons) VK Singh Tuesday visited Udhampur and Kathua district jails besides sub-jail Hiranagar to take stock of security arrangements and to evaluate general living conditions and training facilities available for inmates.

The DGP inspected all barracks, skill training centers,hospitals, CCTV control rooms, kitchens and other sections in the jails. Heinteracted with inmates regarding food, accommodation, medical and trainingfacilities available in the jails.

   

He took note of physical layout, staffing levels, legal aidservices, ongoing construction works and requirements of these jails. Heinstructed jail Superintendents to exercise vigil, ensure dynamic developmentof staff and take necessary measures for welfare of staff and inmates.

The DG also took a Darbar of prison staff during which heattended to their grievances. He urged the staff to put in their best effortsto strengthen the security system and play their role in the reformation ofinmates.

He gave on the spot directions to technical wing of PrisonsDepartment for undertaking repair and renovation works in barracks and conversionof a new building into staff mess and canteen at district jail Kathua.

The DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range- Sujit Kumar, SSP UdhampurRajiv Pandey, Assistant Commandant CRPF and DySP, HQ Udhampur, Superintendentdistrict sail Udhampur Harish Kotwal, Superintendent district jKathua- MushtaqAhmad Malla, Superintendent Sub Jail Hiranagar PK Modi and other concerned werepresent during the visits.
