Disciplinary action against KAS officers requires LG’s approval

General Administration Department (GAD) today said that the disciplinary proceedings proposed against J&K Administrative Service can only be initiated with approval from competent authority (Lt Governor Manoj Sinha).

“It has been observed that some administrative departments are initiating disciplinary proceedings against the members of Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service without seeking approval of the competent authority. All such orders and acts without the approval of competent authority are not legally tenable and may lead to administrative complications,” reads the GAD circular with directives to administrative secretaries and heads of the departments.

The circular issued by Commissioner Secretary, GAD, Manoj Kumar Dwivedi reads: “The cases regarding disciplinary action against the KAS officers are required to be placed before the Lt Governor through the Chief Secretary in coordination.”
