Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma, today chaired a meeting with officers of Handloom, Handicraft and other concerned departments to review employment generation programmes.
Joint Director Handloom displayed various hand made productsby women Self Help Groups including cotton handbags, file covers, shawls etc.Besides, officers of Handicraft department apprised the Div Com of the productsbeing made by the different units besides raising other issues concerningfurther streamlining of working of the department.
The Div Com asked the Handloom department to develop cottonand jute bags and other items to discourage use of banned polythene material.He also asked the Handicraft department to encourage the interested andpotential persons for adopting production of bamboo products asentrepreneurship.
