Secretary Social Welfare Department Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone on Thursday e-launched Rs1.29 crore Project ‘Early identification and intervention for children with disabilities’ in the age group of 0-18 years, an official spokesman said.
He said that aim of the project to rehabilitate specialchildren and in the first phase children from four districts Baramulla, Kupwara, Leh & Kargil will be covered.
The project has been sponsored by Azimpremji Philanthropicinitiative or APPI to be implemented by Voluntary Medicare Society or VMS.
The VMS will provide therapeutic and educational inputs to the children with special needs and then plan the strategies for their mainstreaming.
The target group and their families will be provided psycho-socio counseling. The children requiring of medical and surgical intervention as per need will be referred to tertiary care hospitals.
