Encroachers including Farooq Abdullah to face eviction, legal action: BJP

Advocating prosecution of encroachers and their facilitators under the law, BJP chief spokesman Sunil Sethi Thursday said encroachment on the state as well as forest land would be removed and encroachers like National Conference President Farooq Abdullah would face eviction.

Addressing a news conference at the BJP’s Jammu headquarters, Sethi said, “The encroached land will be retrieved from every encroacher where he is Farooq Abdullah or any other politician.”

On the occasion, Sethi along with other BJP leaders released a ‘vision document’ of the party for the District Development Council (DDC) polls in J&K.

On whether the Jammu residence of the three-time chief minister Farooq Abdullah would be demolished, he said, “The forest land is for animals and trees not for politicians. The encroachers will be prosecuted for their crimes.”

Sethi said encroachment for the past 70 years had stopped the progress and development of J&K.

“Had land not been encroached in J&K, we would have had enough land for expansion of housing and industries,” he said.

“The encroached land should be retrieved and those who facilitated encroachment of government land or forest land will face criminal cases and prosecution,” Sethi said.

He said BJP would not justify any encroachment nor defend any encroacher.

“Encroachers have no religion, they are equal before law. We are not targeting any party nor are we protecting anyone,” Sethi said.

He said the Peoples’ Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) leaders with the tactical support of Congress had been misleading the people of J&K as they speak for Pakistan and China.

“They have anti-people agenda. People have the option whether they will support pro-people BJP or anti-people PAGD and Congress in the DDC polls,” Sethi said.

He said in the last year, militancy and stone pelting had ended and many top militant commanders had been killed in Kashmir.
