Fight against COVID-19 shared responsibility: Jitendra Singh

Union Minister of State in PMO, Jitendra Singh Saturday said the fight against Coronavirus was a shared responsibility and everyone has to play due role in tackling the contagion.

The Minister made theseremarks while chairing a meeting here to review preparedness of Jammu andKashmir in dealing with the pandemic.

   

Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar andFinancial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education Department, Atal Dulloowere also present on the occasion.

Addressingthe meeting, the Minister while lauding the efforts of the medical fraternityof J&K, who he said were doing a commendable job, sought cooperation fromall sections of the society in combating the spread of virus.

“All of us have to cooperate in an optimum manner and everyperson needs to take all necessary precautions and exercise individual andcollective responsibility in this fight against the Coronavirus,” he said.

The Minister also asked people to heed Prime MinisterNarendra Modi’s call for ‘Janata curfew’ on Sunday to minimize socialinteraction in efforts to help in controlling the spread of the Coronavirus.

Advisor Bhatnagar emphasized upon the need for strictlyadhering to guidelines in dealing with the pandemic. He said people should notpanic and follow the government advisories in letter and spirit.

He said COVID-19 patients need to be taken care of and everyprecaution should be exercised in dealing with the infection.

Earlier, Financial Commissioner Atal Dulloo presented adetailed report about various measures taken by the government to contain thespread of Coronavirus in J&K.

He said advisories havebeen issued to all hospitals to suspend all non-essential OPDs and surgeriesand a decision has been taken to quarantine all foreigners arriving in J&Kand passengers coming from Ladakh.

Aboutthe availability of safety logistics and equipment, the Minister was informedthat the Health Department has adequate number of PPE kits, masks, sanitizers,ventilators and orders have been placed to augment the stocks.

Aboutthe laboratory testing facilities, it was given out that besides SKIMS, GMCSrinagar and GMC Jammu, possibility was being explored to start testing at armycommand hospital labs at Udhampur and IIIM Jammu.
