Government approves Rs 150 crore to set-up oxygen plants in J&K hospitals

The government has sanctioned Rs 150 crore for setting up oxygen plants in all associate hospitals of Government Medical Colleges, Srinagar and Jammu, and district hospitals.

“The government has sanctioned Rs 150 crore for setting up oxygen plants in all the hospitals of Jammu and Kashmir,” a senior official said, adding Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) have also been prepared and submitted to the Health department.

   

The official said the process of setting up the oxygen plants will start on priority basis, as per the requirement within three to four months. The official said the government has taken the decision amid the ongoing spike in COVID19 cases.

Another official said process to procure 320 high flow oxygen devices has also been set into motion and these devices will be provided to the Level 1 hospitals, associated hospitals of Government Medical Colleges of the Union Territory.

The official said J&K Medical Supplies Corporation has placed order for these 320 high flow oxygen devices. The official said so far they have already received and supplied 120 high flow oxygen devices to the hospitals.

The Government Medical College and Hospital in Jammu is one among the health institutions where critically ill COVID19 patients are admitted.
