Govt appoints Javed Iqbal, elevates Nissar Shah as senior AAGs

The Jammu and Kashmir government on Friday appointed Javed Iqbal as senior additional advocate general (AAG) in the Srinagar wing of the High Court and also elevated Nissar Hussain Shah to the post of senior additional advocate general (AAG), Srinagar.

Besides, the appointment of Asif Ahmad Bhat as additional advocate general, Srinagar, has been terminated and Rajesh Thappa has been appointed as the deputy advocate general (DAG) in the Jammu wing.  

   

An order, issued from the department of law, justice and parliamentary affairs, read, “Sanction is accorded to termination of appointment of Asif Ahmad Bhat, additional advocate general, Srinagar.”

Besides, the government appointed advocates as law officers in the Srinagar wing of High Court, the order states.

As per the order, in the Srinagar wing of the High Court, Javed Iqbal has been appointed as senior additional advocate general, Showkat Hussain Naqashbandi as additional advocate general, Farah Bashir and Feroz Ahmad Sheikh as deputy advocate generals, and Muzaffar Kirmani, Mohammad Rais-ud-Din Ganai, Bikram Deep Singh and Sajad Ashraf as government advocates.

Meanwhile, a separate order stated that Rajesh Thappa  has been appointed as deputy advocate general of the Jammu wing of the High Court and Adarsh Bhagat, Jamrodh Singh and Bhanu Jasrotia have been appointed as  government advocates.

“The appointments shall be for a period of one year, which shall be extended subject to satisfactory performance of the advocates, and shall be subject to the production of documents relating to eligibility prescribed in SRO 98 of 2015,” the order states.

Furthermore, in another order, the government elevated four law officers to new posts.

Nissar Hussain Shah, additional advocate general, Srinagar, has been re-designated as senior additional advocate general, Amit Gupta, deputy advocate general, Jammu, as additional advocate general, and Karan Deep Singh Kotwal and Sudesh Mangotra, both government advocates, Jammu, as deputy advocate generals, Jammu, the order states.
