Govt forces search Kathua border area

Forces conducted extensive searches in Bobiya area of Hiranagar along the international border in Jammu on Monday, following reports of suspicious movement along the boundary with Pakistan.

An official source said local residents claimed they spotted three suspects along Bobiya border outpost area in Kathua, raising an alarm.

“A joint team of J&K police’s special operations group, Army and BSF thoroughly searched the area but nothing was found,” an official said.

A police officer however said that it was a routine exercise by the police, army and paramilitary forces.

“Sensitisation exercises are conducted after regular intervals,” the police officer said, adding three days earlier some people had spotted three suspects in Chagda village along the border with Pakistani Punjab.

“On that day also, we conducted proper searches but no suspect was found.”
