Govt implements Central RTI Act in J&K, appoints First Appellate Authorities, Central PIOs, APIOs

Jammu and Kashmir Government Wednesday appointed officers to implement the Central Right to Information Act 2005 in the newly created Union Territory.

The erstwhile State of J&K had its own RTI Act. AfterOctober 31 – the day when J&K became a Union Territory – Central RTI Actbecame applicable and accordingly the Government today made the appointment ofofficers to deal with the RTI applications.

   

As per an order, sanction was accorded in term of section 5(1) and 19 (1) of the Right to Information Act 2005 to the appointment ofofficers in the office of Financial Commissioner Revenue as First AppellateAuthority, Central Public Information Officer and Assistant Central PublicInformation Officers to dispose the applications or appeals under the CentralAct.

In this order, the Government appointed Joint FinancialCommissioner (Revenue) Rajinder Singh Tara and Director Planning and StatisticsZulfikar Ali Banday as First Appellate Authority (FAA); Administrative Officer(R) with FCR, ZA Dewani, and Deputy Director (P&S), K.A. Kassana, asCentral Public Information Officer (CPIO). Assistant Director (P&S)Mohammad Afzal, Reader (Agrarian) Kessar Ahmed Zargar, Section Officer (NG)Ravi Kumar and Section Officer (G) Satish Kumar have been appointed asAssistant Central Public Information Officers (ACPIOs).
