A map showing the architectural heritage of old Jammu was launched at Mubarak Mandi by director tourism Jammu, OP Bhagat in the presence of executive director of Mubarak Mandi Jammu Heritage Society and other dignitaries from the civil society.
A press statement said that the map has been prepared by Sanarakshan Heritage Consultants Private Limited and VIRASAT heritage society under the guidance of MunishPandit and MrinaliniAtrey.
This map intends to bring into limelight the forgotten aspects of built heritage of old Jammu city.
It would also act as a resource base for the scholars working on the architecture, history, and tourism of Jammu city. The map has been prepared after a thorough field work spread over a period of six months involving technical experts from the field of conservation, architecture, history and heritage.
On the occasion, MunishPandit and Sukanya Sharma threw light on how the map was prepared by adopting multidisciplinary approach. MrinaliniAtrey highlighted its importance to the students of history.
A photo exhibition of old heritage buildings of Jammu was also exhibited on the occasion.
