Hizb militant’s brother among 5 booked in Kishtwar: Police

Jammu Police issues statement to dispel 'misinformation' regarding death of person in custody

Police on Thursday said it registered a case against five alleged Over Ground Workers (OGWs), including brother of active HizbulMujahideen militant from Kishtwar.

A police official said security forces launched a crackdownin Marwah and other hilly areas of the district where Hizb militants, MuhammadAmin Butt alias JahingirSaroori, Raiz Ahmed alias Hazazi, and Mudasir arebelieved to be hiding.

   

During the searches in Marwah, the police official said theylearnt about the alleged role of five local youth in helping the militants inKishtwar.

“The hunt is on to arrest the five youth. Marwah police haveregistered a case and booked them,” said the police official.

He identified the booked persons as ZakirHussain, MuhammadIqbal, GhulamHussain Lone, MuhammedYaseen – all resident of Anyar, Marwah andBashir Ahmed of Renai in Marwah.

The official said the case (FIR No. 1 of 2020) wasregistered under sections 18, 19, 20, 38, 39 of Unlawful Activities Act atpolice station Marwah.
