Expressing serious concern over what he said “revival of violence and unabated human rights violations” in Kashmir, chairman PDF and MLA Khansahib Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen today said that “the security situation in Kashmir has returned back to 1990s’.”
Speaking in the debate on motion of thanks on the Governor’s address delivered to the joint session of the state legislature yesterday, Yaseen alleged that “the security situation in Kashmir is going bad to worst each day and the common people are feeling totally unsafe and insecure.”
Elaborating, he said, “few hundred people used to participate in funerals, but now thousands of people in large processions do come out fearlessly. I demand releasing all the political leaders from jails. It was painful that Hurriyat leaders Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Molvi Umar Farooq and Yaseen Malik are continuously under house arrest and no Friday prayers are being allowed in the revered Jamia Masjid Srinagar. Under these conditions how dialogue process could be held?” he questioned.
He urged the need for initiating dialogue with all genuine stakeholders including separatists to resolve the Kashmir problem besides involving youth in the peace process.
“Government should take all possible steps to restore peace in Kashmir without which the ongoing bloodshed and mayhem in Kashmir cannot be stopped. There should be clear cut mandate and roadmap for the new interlocutor Daneshwar Sharma. Promises made by PDP and BJP in the AOA for facilitating dialogue process between India and Pakistan for resolving Kashmir has not seen light of the day till now. I demand withdrawl of FIR’s against all youth allegedly involved in stone pelting cases so as to provide them opportunity to live a dignified life,” he said.
