A Border Security Force (BSF) Head Constable and a minor girl were killed as Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged heavy fire and shelling along the international border in Jammu and Kashmir, an official said today.

The slain was identified as Head Constable A Suresh of 78 Batallion. He hailed from Tamil Nadu, said the official.
He said that a girl, identified as Sabity (aged about 13/14 yrs), daughter of Sat Pal, a resident of Dayala Chak Kathua was also killed in cross-border firing.
The girl was hit at the house of her maternal uncle at Pindi Charkan village of Arnia.
Meanwhile, Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Arun Manhas said that the BSF troopers were giving a befitting reply to Pakistani firing.
He said that the schools located within a radius of five kilometres from the border have also been ordered to remain closed.
