Jammu districts remain shut

District Magistrate, Ramban on Saturday directed the officers who are on leave to join duties immediately, while as other districts of the region observed complete shutdown amid Coronavirus threat.

While markets in Banihal,and Ramban remained closed, district magistrate, Ramban, Nazim Zai Khan issuedan order asking all the officers on leave to report to the duty.

   

Khan said the officers inemergency services, and those dealing with measures to track spread ofCOVID-19, should not avail any holiday.

The private organizationswere asked to provide services for assisting such authorities or officialsdeputed by the district authority for measures like creation of quarantinefacilities.

Meanwhile, police inUdhampur closed down the roads with barbed wires to restrict the publicmovement.

Similarly, Jammu witnesseda civil curfew like situation for the second consecutive day, as all businessestablishments, educational institutions, and public transport remained closed.

In Kathua, police strictlyimplemented section 144 of CrPC in the districts.

Whilemost of the districts remained completely shut, in Samba district transportcontinued to ply without any restriction and shops were open.

Peoplein large number were seen going for shopping and roaming around in busy placeslike Bari Brahmana and other places, till afternoon.

Later, the Samba, DistrictMagistrate, Rohit Khajuria reviewed situation with the officials, and policedepartment following which the police enforced complete shutdown in thedistrict. Kishtwar also witnessed complete shutdown in view of the Coronavirusscare.

Deputy Commissioner, Reasi,has also ordered closure of all business establishment excluding. She alsoordered restriction on assembly of people in religious places across thedistrict.

The DC appealed people tostay indoors. “The district officers concerned will draft a weekly roster ofduty of all employees who shall attend the offices on alternate weeks, tillfurther orders. Any violation of this order will invite punitive action,” shewarned.
