JK Assembly Elections:  493 candidates miss Jan 21 deadline,  fail to submit poll expenditure details

As per the official website of Chief Election Commission (CEO) out of 87 constituencies, the candidates (not all) of only 42 constituencies have submitted their expenditure details.

Around 493 candidates, including  MLAs elect, have missed January 23 deadline to submit election expenditure accounts to Election authorities, officials said on Saturday.

 

They said there were 821 candidates in the fray for state assembly polls, out of which only 328 had submitted their expenditure detail till date.

 

As per the official website of Chief Election Commission (CEO) out of 87 constituencies, the candidates (not all) of only 42 constituencies have submitted their expenditure details.

 

Surprisingly, among the candidates of 42 constituencies ( who have submitted account), many MLAs elect have  not yet submitted their election expenditure accounts or whose detail has not yet been processed, include, former speaker and MLA-elect from Sonawari, Muhammad Akbar Lone, MLA-elect from Bhaderwah, Daleep Singh, MLA-elect from Bandipora, Usman Abdul Majid, MLA-elect from Doda, Shakti Raj and MLA-elect from Jammu west, Sat Paul Sharma.

 

According to the official of Election Commission all candidates need to submit their expenditure details within 30 days of the declaration of results.

 

"As the results of the Assembly elections were declared on December 23, 2014, the candidates should have filed their expenditure statements on or before January 23,” said an official of State Election Department, Bansi Lal.

 

 “As of now the candidates are submitting their expenditure detail with the concerned District Election Officers (DEOs) and it might be on the part of DEOs that the detail has been delayed ,” said Bansi Lal, adding that the CEO office is in constant touch with the DEOs to get progress report in this regard.

 

“Although, we are in constant touch with the DEOs, but we will again ask them to upload the remaining expenditure detail if submitted by the candidates in their respective constituencies,” he said and added after getting reports from concerned DEOs, if CEO office finds out that candidates have not filed their expenditure report, then “Election Commission will take action as per law,” he said.

 

As per the official website, the candidates who are yet to submit election expenditure accounts to the authorities are from the following constituencies: Amira Kadal, Anantnag, Bani, Baramulla, Basohli, Batmaloo, Beerwah, Bijbehara, Billawar, Budgam, Chadoora, Chrar-i-Sharief, Darhal, Devsar, Dooru, Eidgah, Habba Kadal, Handwara, Hazratbal, Hiranagar, HomShali Bugh, Kalakote, Karnah, Kathua, Khan Sahib, Khanyar, Kokernag, Kulgam, Kupwara, Langate, Lolab, Mendhar, Noorabad, Nowshera, Pahalgam, Pattan, Poonch Haveli, Rafiabad, Rajouri, Shangus, Shopian, Sonawar, Surankote, Wachi and Zadibal.
