JU organizes interactive session on ‘Guidance and Counseling’

the Department of Home Science, University of Jammu (JU), today organized an interactive session on “Guidance and Counseling” for the students and scholars.

Course coordinator, Dr. Samridhi Arora welcomed the guests and threw light on the key objectives of organizing the interactive session.

   

The programme was organized to give an insight to the participants about perspective on the core skills, theory and practice of counseling and learning.

 Romesh Kumar, Head Counseling Cell, Directorate of School Education, who was the key resource person, interacted with the students and educated them about the counseling techniques and skills in detail.

He talked about what counseling is and what it is not, ethics of counseling and key qualities of the effective counselor.

He stressed on the counseling values and attitudes and shared his practical experience as counselor to various schools of Jammu district.

He suggested that the parents should have an eye on their children what they watch on internet/TV and they shouldn’t impose their desires completely on theie wards.

Prof. Shashi Manhas, Head of the Department, highlighted the importance of counseling and said that it is necessary not only for one person but for everyone.

She stressed on the knowledge of various techniques of counseling for better understanding of the behavior.
