LAL SINGH: It’s not government but we have to fight with Hurriyat

Elections might still be far away but Lal Singh, the former minister who was forced to resign from the government, already looks to be in the mode to canvas for the public support. On Tuesday, he spoke at seventeen public meetings while on the way to his home constituency in Basholi.

During the course of nine hours on Tuesday in which he travelled seventy kilometres, he conveyed the impression, meeting after meeting, that the welfare of Jammu was under threat from Kashmir. He also reiterated his demand for a CBI probe in the shocking rape and murder of the eight-year-old Kathua girl case.

“It’s not government but we have to fight with Hurriyat and (Sayeed Ali Shah) Geelani, who is trying to destroy communal fabric of Jammu region,” Singh told his followers while addressing a public rally to garner support for the CBI probe.

“From ages, Hindu-Muslims are living in complete harmony here (Jammu) but some elements of Hurriyat tried to portrait us as enemy of our brothers,” he said.

“People in Jammu not supporting any culprit but demands justice and fair investigating by reliable agency, which is not a crime,” he said and added, “But vested elements successfully diverted the attention from main issue (fair investigation) to fan hearted among peace-loving communities (Dogra and Gujjar-Bakerwals),”

“(Sayed Ali Shah) Geelani has ruined entire Kashmir, with his destructive politic and petty interests and now he trying to apply same tactics in Jammu,” Singh said and added, “But he won’t get success here because people of Jammu are aware of his nefarious designs.”

“There is no harm if CBI investigate the case but it’s unfortunate that our government scared of Geelani and remain mum since he (Geelani) had threaten to launch agitation, if probe handed over to CBI,” he added.

Singh further said that CBI probe is for justice to Kathua victim and fight for self respect. “Our fight is for justice to victim, and her pious soul in heaven also crying for CBI probe so that real culprits got punish,” he said.
