A land revenue official was arrested by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Jammu while accepting from a person a bribe amount of Rs 10, 000 here on Tuesday.
A press statement issued by ACB Jammu said that a complaint was lodged by one Jaimal Singh in the ACB Jammu regarding demand of Rs 20, 000 from a Patwari for issuance of Fard of land.
“On the basis of the written complaint, a case of criminal misconduct on the part of Patwari was found made out and a formal case vide FIR number 41/2018 under section 5(1) (d) r/w section 5(2) PC Act Svt 2006 and section 4-A of the PC Act was registered at police station ACB Jammu,” it said.
Later, the statement said, a trap team of the officers was constituted for the purpose, which apprehended the accused Patwari, presently posted at PatwariHalqaSarora, Akalpur, red-handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 10,000 in presence of independent witness.
“The accused was arrested on the spot and thereafter, search was also conducted at his house by the team of Anti-Corruption Bureau, from where certain incriminating documents were also found and seized,” the ACB statement said, adding, “Further investigation into the matter has been taken up.”
