LoC gunfight: Army asks Pak counterparts to ‘take back 2 bodies’

The Army has asked its Pakistani counterparts to “take back bodies of two intruders from that country” who were killed in a gunfight along the Line of Control in Sunderbani area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district, an official source said on Monday.

The army had Sunday said that two heavily-armed “Pakistani intruders” and three soldiers of the force were killed after an infiltration bid was foiled along the LoC in Sunderbani.

The official source said that Pakistan army was informed through established communication channels to “take the bodies of its nationals, who were wearing combat uniform, but their identity could not be ascertained.”

The source said that a “warning” was conveyed the Pakistan army to “restrain militants operating from its soil.”

However, the Pakistan army has not conveyed its willingness to take back the bodies of “the intruders” yet, the source said.

Army had claimed that five to six “Pakistani intruders” crossed the LoC and fired on a patrol party in Sunderbani.

“Three soldiers of 8th unit of JAKLI were killed during the operation in which two alleged “intruders” were killed.”
