Lok Sabha polls|Army commander review security position in forward posts, hinterland

To ensure incident free Lok Sabha polls, Northern Army commander Lieutenant General Ranbir Singh, visited forward posts and hinterland in Rajouri and Reasi sectors respectively to review the operational preparedness and the prevalent security situation.

Official said that Lt Gen Singh, accompanied by the WhiteKnight Corps Commander, Lieutenant General Paramjit Singh was briefed about thecurrent operational situation on the Line of Control, ceasefire violations,preparedness for strong and speedy response to enemy actions at the line ofcontrol.

   

The Army Commander was also updated on the measures beingundertaken to ensure secure environment in the region for the forthcoming LokSabha elections.

He also got first hand information on actions being taken toensure a robust counter infiltration grid and use of new generation technologyfor enhancing operational capability.

The visit came at the time when tensions have escalatedbetween India and Pakistan at Line of Control with continual exchange of fire,which has resulted in killing of two soldiers since Tuesday.

The Army Commander complemented the synergy between Army,Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Armed Police Forces and the CivilAdministration in maintaining peace and stability in the hinterland.

“Interacting with the soldiers, General Singh complimentedthem for their unwavering dedication to duty, selfless devotion and highstandard of professionalism,” said Jammu based defence spokesperson Lt ColDevender Anand.
