Man lands in quarantine for ‘spitting’ in open

A man landed in quarantine centre after he was allegedly noticed spitting on the roads at Paloura in Janipur here, amid coronavirus scare.

Even as police claimed the man, a retired employee ofTransport Department seemed “mentally unfit”, a senior police officer went toPaloura area when he received calls from locals alleging they noticed a Kashmirresident spitting on the roads under suspicious circumstances.

   

Locals compelled the man to sit on the road side and startedquestioning him till police and other health officials reached the spot.

“He seemed to be asymptomatic. But, we have called policeand health department officials,” said a local, while police team and anambulance also rushed there.

They shifted him to the ITI Janipur quarantine centre forhis test. “We have talked SDPO of the area though Home Department. We wereinformed that he will be kept in quarantined. Recently, he retired in the monthof March,” said Civil Secretariat Non-Gazetted Employees Union, Rauf AhmedBhat. Bhat said he lives in Government accommodation at Sarwal Governmentquarters.
