Many raids by cops hunting Lal Singh’s fugitive brother

The police have raided several places in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and other areas to arrest Choudhary Rajinder Singh who is wanted for abusing Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti during a public rally recently.

Rajinder alias Bubby, younger brother of former forest minister Chouhdary Lal Singh made abusive remarks about Mehbooba during the Dogra Swabhiman Rally (Dogra Pride Rally) at Hiranagar on May 20.

Kathua senior superintendent of police Sridhar Patil told Greater Kashmir five police teams led by sub-inspector and deputy superintendent-level officers carried out the raids but couldn’t find Bubby. Residences of his business partners were also raided in Kathua.

“We’ve got a good lead and within a day or two Choudhary Rajinder Singh will be put behind the bars,” Patil said.

The abusive remarks prompted former chief minister Omar Abdullah to demand police to act against Rajinder.

“This is absolutely unacceptable language used against @Mehbooba Mufti & is unequivocally condemned with the request that @JmuKmrPolice file a FIR against this abusive individual.”

Soon after Omar among others started sharing the video on social networking sites, Hiranagar police booked Bubby under section 509 of RPC and 66 and 67 of IT Act.
