District Election Officer (DEO) Jammu, Ramesh Kumar has issued a show cause notice to BJP State president Ravinder Raina over alleged violation of model code of conduct (MCC) inside a polling booth here.
“A show cause notice has been issued to Ravinder Raina over alleged violation of MCC and action as per ECI instructions shall be initiated against him,” DC Jammu, Ramesh Kumar told Greater Kashmir.
A video clip of the BJP State president, Ravinder Raina captured from Model Polling Station, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, has gone viral, wherein he can be seen, heard asking an elderly woman her name, and about who she would vote for when the latter was being taken to the booth by her relatives.
In reply to Ravinder Raina’s query, the woman is seen replying in the video, “I will vote for Mr Narendra Modi, but as per law, I shouldn’t name anyone on this day.”
After hearing the name of Prime Minister Narnedra Modi from the elderly woman, Rainder Raina is seen hugging her.
Later, he also addressed media persons inside the tent established by the district election authorities and slammed Pakistan and other forces who according to him tried to stop people from participating in the election process.
Ravinder Raina was not available for comments.
