Downplaying the chaos in Kashmir valley, Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) state president, Ravinder Raina Saturday accused former Chief Ministers Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah of spreading fear among the people to “hide their misdeeds”.
“The advisory has been issued by the central government in view of a possible militant attack. The advisory was issued for the pilgrims, tourists, and people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh for their safety. We have to follow the advisory to foil any attempts to disrupt peace,” Raina said while addressing media persons here.
He added, “We have to work as per the security advisory so that the Pakistan’s attempt to disrupt peace is foiled by the security forces.”
Talking about the additional deployment of troops, he said, “Kashmir based politicians like former Chief Ministers Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah are worried about their misdeeds in view of the Governor’s crusade against corruption.”
“People are not scared in Kashmir, but some politicians, like PDP chief, Mehbooba Mufti, and Peoples Conference Chief, Sajjad Lone, are worried. That is why they went to the Raj Bhavan and knocked at the doors of Governor Satya Pal Malik,” he claimed.
“People in Kashmir know why NC, PDP and Congress Party are trying to spread fear among the people,” he said, and claimed that under Modi government, “people of all three regions are safe”.
“Whatever decision will be taken by the union government, it will be for the benefit of the people of Jammu, Ladakh and Kashmir regions,” he added.
Regarding the state’s special status, he said, “Articles 35-A and 370 are responsible for rise in militancy, and these articles discriminate with women in the state.”
‘PAKISTAN PUSHED FIDAYEENS’
The BJP state chief claimed that “Pakistan has pushed fidayeen attackers into Kashmir from the Line of Control in Kupwara-Baramualla and Poonch-Rajouri under the shadow of ceasefire violation”.
“It was this input from the intelligence agencies that led to the advisory for pilgrims, tourists and people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he claimed.
‘TO HURL TRICOLOUR EVERYWHERE’
BJP has planned to hurl the tricolour in every nook and corner of Jammu and Kashmir on Independence Day, issuing strict instructions to panchayat members and ground level workers, Ravinder Raina said after chairing a core group meeting.
In the meeting, he said, the leaders discussed the current political situation-district wise and region wise.
