Jammu Police issues statement to dispel 'misinformation' regarding death of person in custody

Police on Sunday said it recovered bodies of all five missing members of a family from Ramnagar area of Udhampur.

In a statement, police said it received a complaint from one Bhagat Ram of Ramnagar that his son, Mohan Lal, along with wife and three children were missing since July 20 while they were travelling in their car from Langa, to Udhampur.

   

The statement said following the complaint police registered a case and started investigation. “A search operation was launched by police team from police station Ramnagar, headed by Garu Ram, SDPO and SI Jaswinder Singh, SHO Ramnagar. A body of one family members identified as Mohan Lal was recovered from Kaghote Nallah,” the statement said.

However, search for four other members of the family including wife of Mohan Lal and his three children continued who were feared to have been washed away in the nallah.

The statement said on July 23 their car had fallen into the nallah and the police recovered body of his daughter, 8-year-old Pooja. The body of his son was also found in the nallah and has been identified as that of 4-year-old Naksh.

The statement said police team along with SDRF team recovered two more bodies of the missing family members from the nallah. “The bodies were recovered after four days search operation by police team and SDRF on Sunday morning,” said the statement.

It said the bodies were identified as Rekha Devi, wife of Mohan Lal and Mahesh, son of Mohan Lal. “The sustained efforts and industriousness of Udhampur in search for the missing persons led to the recovery of all the five bodies,” said the statement.
